In Vienna at the the end of the nineteenth century - an important European trading centre for silk as raw material - Max Gütermann gained his first experience with fabrics and yarns before founding his own company in 1864. The company developed very fast with great success and induced the young company founder to set up his own production facility in Gutach in the Black Forest in Germany. Thus begins the story of a company whose history is closely linked to the history of sewing threads.
This was followed by further expansion and internationalisation of the business. Today Gütermann is internationally represented with its fully integrated manufacturing plant in Germany and further production sites in Spain, Mexico and India as well as numerous subsidiaries abroad. As a family business in its fifth generation, Gütermann is still committed to traditional values such as open communication. Thanks to its continuity and decades of experience in the further development of its products, Gütermann is a worldwide specialist for sewing threads.
Sewing threads
The sewing threads from Gütermann creativ convince by a competent colour selection and highest quality. The especially high-quality threads with ideal gliding properties ensure an even seam and stitch pattern. State-of-the-art manufacturing processes combine brilliant colours, high resilience and optimum sewability in one product.
Fabrics
As a fabric mix for patchwork projects, bundles, individual pieces of fabric or in Gütermann's finished collections. We supply fabrics as a drop shipment business, without detours directly from production facilities to speciality retailers.
